Nuclear, Particle, Astrophysics and Cosmology (NUPAC) Seminar Announcement

September 23, 2008 2:00pm Oppenheimer Study Center (Library, main floor, VTC room) By video-teleconference from UNM

New insights on physics beyond the Standard Model from astrophysical observations.

Maurizio Giannotti, T-8 LANL

I will discuss some recent research work on the impact of new physics on stellar evolution and other astrophysical observations. I will also discuss the case of massive stars, whose response to new physics was never considered before.

Some of the bounds derived from astrophysical considerations are well beyond the possibility of terrestrial experiments in the near future.

Sponsored by the LANL Institute for Advanced Studies (ias.newmexicoconsortium.org)
