The purpose of

the workshop is to bring together researches and and students working in the areas of

astrophysics and cosmology in an informal and interactive setting. We expect to have

50-60 participants mostly from New Mexico. We will also invite a small number of out-of-state

speakers.

The workshop will focus on a number of currently hot topics in extragalactic astronomy

and cosmology such as:

• Formation of galaxies in the expanding Universe: models, simulations, physics

• Early stages of galaxy evolution: gas around galaxies, absorption lines, infall and outflow

of gas.

• Neutral hydrogen and reheating, Ly-a forest

• Large-scale structure: non-linear and quasi-linear effects. Baryonic oscillations.

• Large cosmological simulations: constraints on cosmological parameters.

As the first state-wide ACCent meeting, this workshop will provide the opportunity

to review the current activities of different New Mexico State research groups in

this field.
