The conference is being held in Santa Fe, NM from 27 – 29 May 2009. There will be 5 sessions and 27 presentations on a wide range of conceptual and technical topics focusing on sequencing genomes and elucidating their structure and function. Some titles of upcoming talks include: “Fulfilling the Promise of a Sequenced Human Genome”, “Sequencing Complex Regions of the Genome: Disease & Evolutionary Impact” and “Towards the $1000 Genome – The Impact of New DNA Technologies on Finishing”. In addition, panel discussions, “Tech Time Talks” and various social events will afford the opportunity to meet research scientists and industry personnel and discuss recent collaborative endeavors here at NMSU that include the development of new diagnostic tools for detecting bovine tuberculosis and tracking the spread and evolution of a recent rabies epizootic.
