DESCRIPTION:The workshop will bring researchers and educators from 2-y
 ear and 4-year colleges together to initiate new\, and enhance existin
 g\, educational partnerships with the goal of developing teaching stra
 tegies and providing the expertise necessary for faculty to incorporat
 e nano(bio)science themes into undergraduate education across the stat
 e of New Mexico. The environment in New Mexico with its national labor
 atories provides a unique opportunity in the effort to integrate cutti
 ng edge nano(bio)science research themes into education. To facilitate
  this effort\, the workshop will provide opportunities for faculty dev
 elopment and discuss existing nano(bio)science initiatives in New Mexi
 co\, formulate common goals and needs for the growth and development o
 f the network\, as well as modes of active student engagement and know
 ledge transfer between educators and students. Representatives from LA
 NL\, CINT\, and Sandia will provide an overview of research opportunit
 ies at these New Mexico research laboratories. Participants will have 
 an opportunity to present their education challenges and activities at
  a poster session.
