IAS '08 Annual Conference, May 22-23, Las Cruces
The 2008 IAS Conference was held May 22 and 23 in Las Cruces. The conference was held in partnership with the New Mexico Computing Applications Center (NMCAC). Over 100 scientists from across New Mexico met to propose and evaluate research initiatives for the NMCAC.
New Mexico Governor Richardson and the State of New Mexico are committed to becoming first in innovation. Now, more than ever before, those states that maintain Science and Technology (S&T) competitiveness in education and workforce training succeed, while others fall far behind. The NMCAC is a critical part of this S&T infrastructure and the state's first major investment in this regard, so we must assure its success.
Speakers included leaders from throughout government, industry, academia, and the national laboratories. Applications included: Bioscience, Aerospace, Energy, Environment, Water, Information Science and Technology, Nanoscience and Nanomaterials. Education, Work-Force Training, and Economic and Community Development were emphasized in all applications.
